Our experience is that initially children get very tired during their first few weeks of school, even if they have attended full-time Nursery provision. The children have so much to learn, new routines, friends and surroundings. A phased starting school plan enables us to make the whole experience a positive one.
Starting Reception
We understand that all children develop at their own pace, and that we’re all learning from birth. When it’s time to start school, some children will need more help than others. There are key skills that schools expect children to be learning before their first day. Practising these will make your child’s journey to Reception as positive as possible. If your child is already at nursery, in pre-school, or with a childminder, those professionals will work with you and your child to help get them ready. There’s lots you can do at home to build your child’s confidence and independence, helping them feel emotionally and practically prepared to start school.
Please see the link below to the government funded website which is designed to support families prepare their children including support with tooth brushing and potty training.
Your child’s class teacher will use these key skills as they begin their school journey to ensure that we can support your child’s transition into school life as best as possible.
If you have any questions or issues you would like to discuss before the school visits take place, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. The team and I very much look forward to meeting you on Tuesday 2nd June.
We can't wait to meet you and for your learning journey with the Willesborough Schools to begin!
