proposal & consultation for willesborough schools federation
Over the last year, the Infant and Junior schools have been working together. The governing bodies of both schools have seen how effective this has been in improving the educational opportunities for the pupils and the skills of the staff. The governing bodies see a federation as an opportunity to formalise the way the schools are working together and to secure good and effective leadership across both schools to maintain and improve standards.

There are thirteen classes at WIS. The school playground is well equipped with tarmac, grass and sheltered zones. There is access to outdoor learning environments for every Year Group. There are additional rooms and learning areas within the school buildings. Our 'Acorn Room' and our 'Sunshine Room' provide a range of opportunities for parent partnership projects as well as pre school and toddler activities. The children have access on a daily basis to an impressive range of ICT equipment including Ipads.
Children enter school in September in the year of their fifth birthday. You can find more details about our admissions process under the menu tab 'Admissions - Starting School'.
There are thirty children in each class. Every class has a full-time teaching assistant who works alongside the class teacher. There are additional teaching assistants allocated to each year group and the equivalent of a full-time teacher who works across the school providing extra learning support to children of all abilities.
At the end of each year your child will change class as they move into a new year group. This often means a change of teacher, teaching assistant and classroom. Teachers work closely together at these key times to ensure an excellent transition process for your child. This includes teachers at the Junior School.
